Gov Bala Mohammed Announces Political Shift to APM Ahead of 2027 Elections

By Mubarak Aliyu Kobi

Governor Bala Mohammed has announced a major political realignment, declaring a move of his political structure to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), following what he described as prolonged uncertainty within the Peoples Democratic Party.

The governor made the announcement during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting in Bauchi, where he said the decision followed wide consultations with political leaders across the country in response to recent developments arising from the Supreme Court judgment on the PDP leadership crisis.

He stated that the move was not taken lightly, stressing that it was aimed at ensuring continuity and political stability. He added that the decision represents a strategic repositioning to secure victory and continue serving the people with purpose and integrity.

Governor Bala Mohammed also appreciated the PDP for its role in his political journey, but maintained that the evolving situation within the party necessitated a new platform to sustain governance and political engagement.

In his response, the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, welcomed the governor’s decision, describing the APM as a clean and democratic party built on the principles of Nigeria First, integrity, sacrifice, and service.

He further stated that the Allied Peoples Movement is a party without hidden godfathers, adding that the party operates as one family where every voice is respected. He formally welcomed the governor into the party, describing APM as his new political home.

The development is expected to reshape political dynamics in Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 general elections, although official reactions from the PDP and other political stakeholders are still being awaited.
