By Mubarak Aliyu Kobi
Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has held a strategic meeting with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, signaling fresh moves toward opposition collaboration and national unity.
The high-level engagement took place behind closed doors at the Presidential Lodge, Ramat House, in Bauchi, where Obi arrived with a delegation of Southeast political figures, including lawmakers and key stakeholders.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Obi said the visit was driven by the need to build bridges across regions and chart a new course for Nigeria’s future. He stressed that collective action is necessary to address the country’s current socio-economic challenges.
He added that the delegation engaged leaders from the Northeast to foster cooperation aimed at creating a more inclusive and effective political direction for the country.
Governor Bala Mohammed, speaking on the outcome, acknowledged that both sides shared common ground on the importance of unity, collaboration, and sustained dialogue among political actors.
He noted that the discussions went beyond regional interests, touching on broader national concerns and the possibility of deeper opposition alignment, while emphasizing that consultations are still ongoing.
The meeting is seen as part of wider behind-the-scenes engagements among opposition leaders, fueling expectations of potential alliances and shifts ahead of future elections in Nigeria.
