The Bauchi State Government has restated its commitment to promoting tourism and cultural exchange, as it participated in the Nigerian Governors’ Forum publication committee meeting of the Nigeria Press Council (NPC) on the forthcoming national book titled “Nigeria: Documenting the Economic and Tourism Profiles of the States and the FCT.”

The meeting, held in Abuja from the 13th to 15th of October 2025, brought together representatives from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to deliberate on the editorial and financial aspects of the publication.

Bauchi State was represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Abdul Hassan, who stood in for Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON.

Accompanying the commissioner was the general manager of Yankari Game Reserve, Mohammed Ladan, and other top officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The Bauchi delegation played a leading role in the discussions, with the Honourable Commissioner chairing the meeting session that focused on editing and content development for the handbook.

The NPC publication aims to showcase Nigeria’s diverse economic potentials and tourism attractions, highlighting each state’s natural endowments, heritage, and investment opportunities.

Bauchi State’s input emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to reposition tourism as a major driver of the state’s economy, with Yankari Game Reserve serving as a flagship destination.

In a related development, on the 14th of October, the Commissioner, Abdul Hassan, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, in Abuja.

The visit was to follow up on the minister’s planned visit to Bauchi for the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the Renewed Hope Cultural Project, formerly known as the Creative Renaissance Project.

Discussions during the meeting centered on strengthening collaboration between the Federal Ministry and Bauchi State to develop creative industries, promote cultural tourism, and expand investment opportunities in the sector. The engagement was described as fruitful and forward-looking.

The Minister assured the Bauchi delegation of her readiness to visit the state in the coming week, a visit that is expected to open new doors for partnership and further advance Governor Bala Mohammed’s vision of making Bauchi a leading hub for culture, tourism, and creativity in Northern Nigeria.
