Bauchi Govt Reassigns Commissioners to Oversee Key Ministries

The Bauchi State Government has approved a fresh round of administrative adjustments following the resignation of top officials within the State Executive Council.

 

Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed gave the approval as part of measures to ensure the smooth running of government activities after the Chief of Staff and six commissioners stepped down to pursue political interests.

 

A statement by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, says the governor has directed the immediate deployment and reassignment of some cabinet members to supervise ministries and offices affected by the development.

 

Under the new arrangement, the Principal Private Secretary, Hashimu Yakubu, is to oversee the Office of the Chief of Staff, while Dr. Mohammed Lawal has been moved to the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.

 

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hassan Usman El-Yakub, will now supervise the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, while the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Usman Shehu, takes charge of the Ministry of Water Resources in a supervisory capacity.

 

Also affected are the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, who will oversee the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties, alongside Amina Muhammad Katagum of Budget and Planning, who will supervise the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.

 

In the same development, Mohammed Sadiq Shira has been assigned to supervise the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, while retired DIG Sani Mohammed will oversee the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, with the governor urging all assigned officials to work in close synergy with Permanent Secretaries for effective governance.
