By Mubarak Aliyu Kobi
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has warned newly appointed district heads to take the lead in safeguarding security and stability within their domains.
The governor urged the traditional leaders to work closely with security agencies and relevant authorities to curb criminal activities and antisocial behaviour at the grassroots.
He also directed Emirate Councils across the state to intensify supervision of district heads, ensuring strict compliance with laid-down rules and traditional governance principles.
The warning was issued during ongoing coronation ceremonies held at the palaces of the Emirs of Dass, Lere, Bununu and Zaar in Dass and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Areas.
Speaking through his Principal Private Secretary, Alhaji Hashimu Yakubu, Governor Mohammed declared zero tolerance for corruption, banditry, illegal mining and deforestation for commercial purposes.
He emphasized that anyone found undermining peace and security would face decisive action from the government.
In their separate responses, the Emirs of Dass, Lere and Zaar pledged to properly guide the new district heads to support peace, unity and lasting stability across their emirates.
