“Your Appointment is Merit-Based,” Governor Bala Mohammed Tells Newly Sworn Permanent Secretaries

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has emphasized that the appointments of the 17 newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries were strictly merit-based.
He made the remarks during the swearing-in ceremony held at the Government House in Bauchi.
Addressing the appointees, Governor Bala Mohammed said the rigorous selection process, which included written examinations and competitive interviews, ensured that only qualified, competent, and disciplined officers were chosen to lead the state’s Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
He reminded the new Permanent Secretaries that their roles are pivotal, as they serve as the bridge between policy formulation and implementation, and that government policies can only succeed when effectively executed by capable leaders.
The Governor also cautioned them against corruption and emphasized the importance of integrity, teamwork, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties. He urged them to work closely with commissioners and staff to achieve the administration’s objectives.
He congratulated the appointees and charged them to remain committed to service excellence, noting that their success would be measured by the tangible impact they make on the lives of the people of Bauchi State.
Responding on behalf of the new appointees, Permanent Secretary Muhammad Sabiu Barau pledged their full support for the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state and promised to uphold high standards of professionalism, transparency, and commitment in their respective offices.
