Over 50 Girls Receive Learning Materials As J4PD Marks International Day Of The Girl Child In Bauchi

In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child which is been celebrated in 11 of October, the Journalists for Public Health and Development Initiative (J4PD) has distributed learning materials to over 50 girls at Barangada Primary School in Bauchi.

 

Speaking during the event on Tuesday, the Executive Director of J4PD, Mrs Elizabeth Car said the gesture was part of the organization’s effort to promote girl-child education and encourage parents to enroll their daughters in school.

 

She emphasized that girl-child education remains key to national development and called on parents, communities, and stakeholders to create equal opportunities for girls to learn and thrive.

In his remark, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council Comrade Umar Sa’idu, represented by Nasiru Shuaibu, commended J4PD’s commitment to promoting the welfare of the girl child.

 

Also speaking, the Headmaster of Barangada Primary School, Muhammad Bello, appealed to parents to prioritize their children’s education by providing school uniforms and supporting teachers with adequate materials to enhance learning.

Meanwhile, the traditional ruler of Barangada ta ƙasa, Alhaji Sa’idu Gambo, decried the poor state of the school, citing challenges such as lack of chairs, learning materials, water, electricity, and dilapidated classrooms as their major challenges in the area.

 

In thier goodwill messages, Haruna Shuaibu Imam stressed the importance of education in shaping the future of young girls, while Muhammad Adam Jibrin, Chairman of the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC), pledged continued support for girl-child education in the community.

Also, the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) Chairman, Abdullahi Hayatu Sambo, expressed gratitude to J4PD for selecting Barangada Primary School, noting that the visit would serve as motivation for both pupils and parents.
