Exclusive: Shehu Buba Failed APC Screening, Sources Reveal

By Al-Jadeed Media

Investigative reports from reliable sources indicate that Senator Shehu Buba’s withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship race in Bauchi State was not voluntary, as widely speculated.

Findings suggest that the senator was allegedly disqualified by the party’s screening committee.

A document obtained by Al-Jadeed Media revealed that out of the eight aspirants screened for the APC gubernatorial primary in Bauchi State, seven were cleared to contest the election.

Those cleared include Malam Nura Manu Soro, Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti, Muhammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Yusuf Maitama Tugga, Arch. Kabiru Baba Ma’aji, Baba Abubakar Suleiman, and Dr. Yakubu Yakubu Abdullahi.

According to the document, Senator Shehu Buba was the only aspirant not cleared by the screening committee constituted by the APC national leadership.

However, the reasons behind his reported disqualification were not stated in the document, fueling speculations among party supporters and political observers.

The development comes barely hours before the APC gubernatorial primaries scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 21, 2026, across the 36 states of the federation.

As of the time of filing this report, APC officials have yet to issue an official statement regarding Senator Buba’s reported disqualification.

Consequently, party delegates and card-carrying APC members in Bauchi State are now expected to choose from the seven cleared aspirants in the forthcoming primary election.
