“Community Courage Shines Amid Bandit Attacks” — Governor, Emir of Duguri Speak Out
By Mubarak Aliyu Kobi
Residents of Kafin Duguri have shown remarkable unity and resilience in the face of a deadly bandit attack, demonstrating a strong attachment to their ancestral land.
Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, praised the bravery of the community during a sympathy visit, noting that their collective resistance forced the assailants to flee, despite lives lost and injuries sustained.
He described the incident as a serious security challenge, saying that local security formations are overwhelmed and need more sophisticated weapons and logistical support to effectively confront the bandits.
Governor Mohammed disclosed that while on an official visit to Abuja, he briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who expressed condolences to affected families and assured federal support to restore peace.
The governor further explained that banditry has largely been contained in other parts of the state, including Ningi, Jama’are, and Bogoro, but the persistence of attacks in Duguri remains particularly painful. He assured residents that the government is committed to eliminating criminal elements across the state.
Sarkin Duguri, Alhaji Adamu Muhammad, also spoke during the visit, thanking the governor for coming and calling for sustained government presence and security reinforcement to prevent future attacks.
As part of immediate measures, Governor Mohammed announced plans to recruit and train more community vigilantes in collaboration with the police, while assuring that the Bauchi State Government will take full responsibility for the medical treatment of those injured, and offered prayers for the souls of those who lost their lives.
