The member representing Jama’are Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Honourable Mubarak Haruna, has denied reports linking him with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that he remains politically independent.
Honourable Mubarak Haruna made the clarification while addressing journalists over allegations targeting the Bauchi State Government and the House Committee on Public Accounts.
The lawmaker, who is Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts, described the claims as falsehoods spread by mischievous individuals, stressing that his remarks were not intended to please anyone but to set the record straight for the people of Bauchi State.
He explained that the House Committee on Public Accounts has diligently discharged its constitutional responsibilities by thoroughly investigating audit queries, adding that no evidence was found to support the figures alleged in a recent newspaper report.
According to him, the committee reviewed audit reports, investigated Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as local government councils, held public hearings, monitored the implementation of recommendations, and conducted budget defence sessions for the Office of the Auditor-General of the State.
Honourable Mubarak further stated that all audit queries and observations contained in the Auditor-General’s 2024 report were properly addressed, emphasizing that the Assembly only recognizes audits conducted in line with due process.
The lawmaker noted that the Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed laws to strengthen financial oversight, assuring that the committee regularly submits reports and that the executive arm is implementing legislative resolutions across the state.
He urged the public to disregard unverified reports, reaffirming that the House has nothing to hide and will continue to discharge its duties independently, guided by truth, transparency and constitutional responsibility.
