The Bauchi State Executive Council has approved the immediate purchase of 30 additional vehicles for the state-owned Yankari Transport Company.

The move is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s transportation system and boost internally generated revenue.

The Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Titus Ketkuka, disclosed this while briefing Government House correspondents shortly after the State Executive Council meeting held yesterday at the Government House, Bauchi.

He explained that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to improving mobility for citizens and enhancing the operational capacity of the transport company.

Prof. Ketkuka stated that the approval covers the procurement of 25 new 18-seater buses and 5 saloon cars.

According to him, the vehicles will be deployed to expand Yankari Transport Company’s fleet, thereby increasing its ability to serve more routes efficiently and provide safer, more reliable services to commuters across the state.

He further noted that the initiative is expected to boost revenue generation for the company and contribute significantly to the state’s economy.

“This investment is not just about improving transportation; it is a strategic step towards ensuring financial sustainability and creating more job opportunities for our people,” the Commissioner added.

The Bauchi State Government has in recent months intensified efforts to reposition Yankari Transport Company as a viable and competitive transport service provider.

The latest vehicle procurement aligns with the broader vision of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration to modernize infrastructure and promote economic development through strategic investments in key sectors.
