Bala Wunti Foundation Commissions Multi-Million Naira Water Scheme in Bauchi Community

Residents of Inkil community in Bauchi Local Government Area have received a major relief from years of water scarcity following the commissioning of a multi-million naira water supply scheme executed by the Wunti Alkhair Foundation, a humanitarian organization founded by philanthropist Dr. Bala Mai Jama’a Wunti.
Commissioning the project on behalf of Dr. Bala Mai Jama’a Wunti, Barrister Umar Abubakar said the intervention reflects the Foundation’s commitment to improving the welfare of underserved communities through sustainable, people-centred projects. He assured residents that the Foundation would continue to partner with communities in addressing critical developmental challenges.
The Head of Monitoring and Evaluation of the Foundation, Abubakar Muhammad Ƴanmaza, explained that the project was initiated after a series of complaints from residents over the lack of access to clean and potable water. He noted that similar projects had previously been completed in Turum community of Bauchi Local Government Area and Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, adding that the Foundation would continue to prioritize initiatives that directly impact people’s lives.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malam Ladan Garba Marafan Inkil expressed gratitude to Dr. Bala Mai Jama’a Wunti for responding to the community’s long-standing appeal. He recalled that before the intervention, residents—especially women and children—had to travel long distances daily in search of water, a burden that had now been eased.
In his remarks, elder statesman Alhaji Mai Jama’a Wunti urged wealthy individuals and public-spirited Nigerians to embrace philanthropy by supporting community development projects. He emphasized that every act of charity, regardless of its size, contributes to societal progress and called on residents to protect and maintain the facilities.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of the Bala Wunti Support Organization, Comrade Mukhtar Jarmajo, described access to portable water as a fundamental necessity for healthy living. He said the project would significantly improve public health and the quality of life of vulnerable members of the community.
The Project Coordinator, Alhaji Surajo Caps, disclosed that the scheme consists of 12 strategically located water points spread across Inkil community. According to him, the project is one of the most extensive community water interventions undertaken by the Foundation in Bauchi State.
The event attracted traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, women and youth groups, as well as supporters of the Foundation, who commended Dr. Bala Mai Jama’a Wunti for his continued investment in life-changing projects aimed at improving the wellbeing of communities across Bauchi State.
