Alkaleri Council Chair Commends Education Drive As New School for Jarawa, Fulani Children is Commissioned

The Executive Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Hon. Garba Hassan Bajama (Shatiman Birim), has commended the Bauchi State Government for its commitment to expanding educational access across rural communities, particularly for nomadic and minority groups.
Speaking during the commissioning of a newly constructed primary school for Jarawa and Fulani children at Mungyor community in Lim Ward, the chairman described the project as a milestone in promoting inclusive education and social harmony.

Hon. Bajama lauded Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for creating an enabling environment for development partners to support the state’s education sector, saying the administration’s policies continue to encourage community participation and donor investment in basic education.

He expressed special appreciation to the Member representing Duguri/Gwana Constituency, Hon. Bala Abdullahi Dan (DanGaladiman Dan), whose initiative attracted the project in partnership with Schools for Africa under the leadership of Rev. Mrs. Phyllis Sortor.
The chairman applauded the donor organization for its commitment to uplifting the lives of rural children, particularly among the Fulani and Jarawa communities, noting that education remains the most powerful tool for progress and peaceful coexistence.
While addressing parents and guardians, Hon. Bajama urged them to take advantage of the new facility by enrolling their children, stressing that the future of the community depends on the education of its younger generation.
He further assured the project partners and the Bauchi State Government of the council’s readiness to provide continued support for the maintenance and sustainability of the school’s facilities, which include classrooms, teachers’ lodge, solar-powered water system, and a clinic.
Hon. Bajama concluded by reaffirming the council’s determination to work with government agencies, donor partners, and community leaders to ensure every child in Alkaleri has access to quality education in a safe and conducive learning environment.
