Dambam LG Chair Sensitizes Farmers, Herders On the Importance of Peace.

In an effort to put an end to conflicts between farmers and herders, especially during this farming season, the Chairman of Dambam Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Hon. Iliya Isa Dagauda has visited some farming and grazing communities to enlighten them on the importance of maintaining peace and respecting one another.

The visit was also aimed at strengthening unity, mutual understanding and reminding both sides of the need to abide by the state government’s regulations, including avoiding farming on designated grazing routes, cattle pathways, and refraining from grazing on people’s farms.

Speaking during the visit to areas including Dajin Ganjuwa and Kaderi village, Hon. Iliya Isa Dagauda said the move was in line with the leadership style of the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, in ensuring lasting peace across the state.

The council chairman said the action followed the condolence and sensitization visit recently made by Governor Bala Mohammed to Darazo Local Government Area after a farmer-herder clash erupted between the communities of Lanzai and Dosho, which led to the loss of lives and property.

According to him, Dambam Local Government and the State Government under the leadership of Governor Bala Mohammed will not tolerate the occurrence of similar incidents noting that he has taken proactive steps to prevent any situation could lead to conflict.

Hon. Iliya Isa Dagauda further urged farmers and herders to respect the law and embrace dialogue as a means of resolving misunderstandings in order to promote sustainable peace.
