By Ismail Bauchi
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has congratulated Nigerians on the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, urging citizens to remain united and committed to the ideals of peace, democracy and nation-building.
In a message by his special advisor on Media and Publicity comrade Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor described independence as a milestone that ended colonial domination, granting Nigeria self-determination, political freedom and opportunities for socio-economic and democratic growth.
He acknowledged that Nigeria’s development may not be equal with some nations that gained independence simultaneously, particularly the Asian Tigers, but stressed the country’s achievements in managing diversity, self-governance, and gradual democratic advancement.
Governor Mohammed noted that prolonged military rule stunted growth but expressed delight that 26 years of uninterrupted democracy are now yielding dividends of governance and stability across Nigeria’s socio-political and economic landscape.
- Reassuring Bauchi citizens, he highlighted his administration’s multi-sectoral agenda on infrastructure, security, and empowerment, disclosing plans for the Bauchi State Investment Summit in October to attract investors and unlock economic potentials.
The Governor who stressed peace as the foundation of progress, pledging stronger security partnerships while urging citizens to support government efforts, prayed for unity, coexistence, and wished Nigerians a joyful 65th Independence Anniversary.
